The last time we covered the Winston-Salem-based Heavy Hazy Rockers of IROH, it was to premiere their supercharged single, “In Exile”—a tasty little sampler that dropped in January of last year.
Since then, the band has also released the post-apocalyptic concept album THEY RIDE, which peaked at number 38 on the April 2023 Doom Charts and was filled with blistering tracks that call to mind bands like Crobot, Clutch, The Sword, and Queens of the Stone Age (actually, THEY RIDE relies heavily on radio effects—much like Songs for the Deaf).

And now IROH is back. Their latest single, “Crash + Burn,” is a high-energy banger propelled forward by an intricate lead riff, layered guitars, smooth vocals, and an unstoppable rhythm section.
We’re proud to co-premiere “Crash + Burn” with Slightly Fuzzed! Check it out:
About ‘Crash + Burn’
“Crash + Burn” is the first IROH song written as a collaboration between the entire band, which is made up of:
- Brandon Welch – Vocals and Guitars
- Billy Steele – Guitars, Vocals, and Keys
- Ryan Orren – Bass
- Steve Brooks – Drums
“Crash + Burn” is also the first IROH song that doesn’t fall under the umbrella of a conceptual story, which pulls us out of the THEY RIDE universe.
The “Crash + Burn” music video was recorded at the band’s favorite live venue, the Milk Parlor in Blacksburg, VA. The video was shot guerrilla-style: They invited four videographers and photographers to come film the song live and hoped for the best. Fortunately for them, it all worked out!
Technical credit for the music video goes to:
- House of Ivy – Filming, Editing, and Production
- Thomas Hooper Photography and Ring Media – Filming
- Jamie King at JKAudio – Recording and Production
While it’s not finalized, “Crash + Burn” will likely appear on the band’s next EP, which has a working title of Weaving Spiders Come Not Here.
